First, I want to thank the Virginia Correctional Association members for allowing me to serve as their president of an organization that not only gives knowledge back, but it allows friendships to be forged within the organization and I am fortunate to be following in the footsteps of some great leaders in the correctional field.
The next year becomes a challenge for the board as we start to develop workshops for our training institute that reflect the correctional profession and become beneficial to our members. We have a scholarship program that is a benefit to our members and in past years, VCA has given away thousands of dollars to criminal justice majors, which we hope will remain a tradition.
The Virginia Correctional Association is a long-honored professional organization which goes back over 30 years. VCA was established in 1979 as a state chapter affiliate of the American Correctional Association (ACA).To our current members and prospective members, I was to assure you that the intention of this board is to grow the Virginia Correctional Association without limits. We will stay focused on remaining as a benefit to our members and also stay current with correctional standards and requirements. I look forward to a productive and successful year and invite each of you to participate, and most importantly, become involved.
As President for 2019-2020, I am honored to serve this organization and its members. We have an exceptional legacy to serve as our organization works to better criminal justice professionals.
