First, I want to thank the Virginia Correctional Association members for allowing me to serve as their President. VCA is an organization that not only gives knowledge back, but allows friendships to be forged within the organization. I am fortunate to be following in the footsteps of some great leaders in the correctional field.
2021 will present a challenge for the Board as we begin to rethink and regroup due to the Covid-19 response of our State and local agencies. We want to continue to develop workshops for our training institute that reflect the correctional profession and are beneficial to our Members. We wish to continue our scholarship program that is a benefit to our Members. In past years, VCA has awarded thousands of dollars to criminal justice majors, which we hope will remain a tradition.
The Virginia Correctional Association is a time-honored professional organization which goes back over 30 years. VCA was established in 1979 as a state chapter affiliate of the American Correctional Association (ACA).To our current Members and prospective members, I want to assure you that the intention of this Board is to grow the Virginia Correctional Association without limits. We will stay focused on remaining current with correctional standards and training requirements. I look forward to a productive and successful year and invite each of you to become involved. As Members, you are always welcome to attend our monthly Board meetings; to observe, to suggest, and to participate.
As your President for 2021-2022, I am honored to serve this organization and its Members. We have an exceptional legacy to preserve and to expand as we respond to the continuing evolution of Criminal Justice and Corrections.
