Virginia Correctional Association members, I thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President. VCA is an organization that not only allows friendships to be formed within the organization it also provides information, education, leadership for members and the community to promote an effective criminal justice system. As your President I am dedicated to do my best following in the footsteps of some great leaders in the criminal justice field. The Virginia Correctional Association is a time-honored professional organization which goes back 44 years. VCA, Established in 1979 as a state chapter affiliate of the American Correctional Association (ACA). Our current members and prospective members, I want to assure you that the intention of this Board is to grow the Virginia Correctional Association without limits. Associate membership a great resource for students to bring new light and views. With the opportunity to be the leaders of the future. We will stay focused on remaining current with criminal justice standards and training requirements. I look forward to a productive and successful year and encourage each of you to become involved. Members are always welcome to attend our monthly Board meetings; to provide observations, suggestions, and to participate.
2023 will present challenges for the Board as we begin to rethink and regroup due to rounding the corner of the COVID pandemic. With staffing shortages in our State and local agencies. We will continue to develop workshops for our training institute that will be and are beneficial to our Members. We intend to continue our scholarship program which is a great benefit to our Members. Promoting the recognition of corrections as a profession and those who work in criminal justice as professionals. In past years, VCA has awarded thousands of dollars, which we hope will remain a tradition.
As your President for 2023-2025, I am honored to serve Virginia Correctional Association and its Members. As VCA members we have an exceptional legacy to preserve and to expand as we respond to the continuing evolution of Criminal Justice and Corrections. Best Regards,
