Zachary Davis "I was so very proud to be one of the first recipients of the Rick Barrett Memorial Scholarship in 2016. The award made it possible for me to purchase a laptop computer to better complete my college assignments. Prior to receiving the award, I would leave work early to try to secure a loaner computer at VCU before class started. It could be a struggle many days! I am forever grateful to the confidence that VCA extended to me in awarding this scholarship to me. Now, I am focusing on making my career with the Virginia Department of Corrections."

Corey Long, Jr. "I would like to start off by thanking the VCA Scholarship Committee for choosing me to be a scholarship recipient. This scholarship has been very helpful in paying for my education, where here at Longwood, I have learned about many topics including networking, programming, security, and philosophy amongst other things. With this scholarship, my transition into college from high school has been a lot smoother than it could have been, and that is all because of you. I really appreciate the financial support that you all have given to me, and I will make sure to give it back to community in a similar and just as impactful fashion."
Indiya Stephenson "I would like to thank you for selecting me as one of the recipients of the Rick Barrett Memorial Scholarship. I apologize for not being present to receive the aware personally, by the demands of my classes would not allow me to do so. The scholarship helped me pay for my housing deposit, pay my Human Anatomy lab fees, and also purchase a laptop computer that I needed for my classes. Thanks to the scholarship, I can now do my homework and my classwork in the comfort of my own dorm room, versus going to the library to use the computer. Without the scholarship, it would have been a hardship on me. As a college student, scholarships are very important in helping with the college tuition and also for other expenses that occur. I appreciate what you did for me and hopefully the Rick Barrett Memorial Scholarship Fund will continue to help others in the future as you have helped me. Again, thank you for selecting me as one of the recipients. I am forever grateful!"
